WasteWise Honorable Mention - Very Large Business Partner of the Year - 2011
Sears Holdings is the recipient of the 2011 WasteWise Honorable Mention for Very Large Business Partner of the Year. We developed a comprehensive sustainability program and effectively recycled a variety of materials including, plastics, cardboard, batteries, tires and appliances. In 2010, we diverted more than 410,000 tons of waste from the landfill. Our waste reduction efforts in 2010 resulted in greenhouse gas emission reductions of over 1.1 million metric tons of carbon dioxide equivalent, which is equal to taking more than 200,000 passenger cars off the road for a year.
