Sears and Kmart Statement on 2014 Cyber Week Shopping Trends

HOFFMAN ESTATES, Ill., Dec. 2, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- Statement attributable to Imran Jooma, executive vice president, Sears Holdings:

"As holiday shopping season shifts into high gear, Sears and Kmart are encouraged by the traffic we are seeing on our online platforms. Starting with the early online availability of our Black Friday deals the day before Thanksgiving, on Black Friday and into Cyber Monday and Week, our members are taking advantage of our hottest deals."

"Clearly, holiday shopping – especially online this year – has become less a one day make-or-break event and evolved into more of a multi-day happening. It's a retail trend we anticipated and why we decided to officially declare it 'Cyber Week' for our members, giving them week-long specials, more convenience in how they receive their purchases, and a reason to keep coming back to our .com sites.

"Thus far, our home appliances, tools, outerwear, and consumer electronics categories are seeing the most interest as members find amazing offers on brand-name products from Kenmore, Craftsman, Metaphor, Samsung and more. Cyber Week deals run through Sat. Dec. 6 at 11:59 p.m. on and .

"Mobile is also experiencing tremendous growth as our integrated retail strategy gains traction, as we saw a significant increase in mobile site visits and member engagements on Thanksgiving Day, Black Friday and through the weekend.

"We're also excited about the member response to our unique online/in-store collaboration between Sears and Kmart, in which members and customers can avoid shipping and conveniently pick up their gifts at more than 1,800 locations, ready in five minutes or less. Multichannel transactions now represent a majority of our overall transactions."
