Sears Reports June Comparable Store Sales

Sears, Roebuck and Co. (NYSE: S) announced today that comparable domestic store revenues decreased 1.8 percent for the five weeks ended July 5, 2003. Total domestic store revenues were $2.6 billion in June 2003, compared with $2.7 billion for the five weeks ended July 6, 2002.

"Overall, sales results for the month were in line with expectations," said Chairman and CEO Alan J. Lacy. "Lawn and garden continued to perform strongly across all formats in the month, while a stronger promotional stance contributed to improved trends in apparel."
