Sears Coats for Kids Program Totals Nearly 60,000 Donated Coats

CEO of Chicago Public Schools Arnie Duncan Helps Sears Distribute New Coats

                To Chicago-Area Children at Sears on State

  WHO:     More than 40 students from Schiller School (640 W. Scott St.)
           will receive NEW winter coats specifically selected for each
           child.  Chicago Public Schools CEO Arnie Duncan will help kick
           off the event and distribute the coats.

  WHAT:    As part of Sears continued commitment to the community, the
           company's associates will once again support the Sears Coats for
           Kids program to help make another winter warmer for more than
           4,000 Chicago-area children.  This year, Sears approaches a total
           of nearly 60,000 new coats distributed to Chicago-area elementary
           school-age children in need.

           2 N. State St. (corner of State and Madison streets)

  WHEN:    Saturday, November 3 at 10:00 a.m.
           Time is not to be published.
           (Coats will be distributed to previously selected children.)

  WHY:     Sears has a long-standing commitment to Chicagoland families and
           children.  The Sears volunteer initiative is a strategic
           partnership with America's Promise and the Points of Light
           Foundation designed to support America's Youth through
           volunteering.

  Background Information:  The Sears Coats for Kids program was created by a
  Sears associate and friends in 1989 to help children in need stay warm for
  the winter.  As word of the program spread, more employees got involved in
  fundraising and distribution.  In 1994, Sears Coats for Kids became an
  official Sears volunteer initiative.
