Sears October Comparable Store Sales Increase 3.0 Percent

Sears, Roebuck and Co. today announced total domestic store revenues for the four weeks ending October 28, 2000 were $2.20 billion. Comparable domestic store revenues increased 3.0 percent. Total domestic store revenues increased 4.1 percent compared to $2.11 billion for the four weeks ending October 30, 1999.

"Hardlines continued to show solid increases led by double-digit growth in sporting goods, strong increases in appliances and solid performance in electronics," said President and Chief Executive Officer Alan J. Lacy. "Apparel also delivered an increase for the month, experiencing double-digit increases in footwear and fine jewelry, while women's and children's apparel posted solid sales increases. Automotive, dealer stores and The Great Indoors also reported strong sales."
