Sears Speeds Out $100 Donations to 30,500 Families to Fulfill Their Wishes as America Says 'Thank You' Via Sears Heroes at Home Wish Registry

To assure that families of our military will have the holidays they deserve, Sears is distributing $100 to each of the 30,500 registrants on its Heroes at Home Wish Registry now to spend on the things for which they asked on the registry. Scores of smaller donations made by visitors to the Heroes at Home Wish Registry at Sears.com have been combined to help make the wishes of members of the military come true.

With their fathers and mothers not home and fighting for our country, Sears, its vendors, customers and America have stepped up to send a direct 'thank you' to the families of our troops this holiday season. For many, the wishes are simple and practical: warm clothes, video games, baby dolls, sparkling ornaments. Close to a million people have donated; however, there are still hundreds of thousands of wishes unfilled, and it only takes a dollar or two to make a difference.

Sears associates, executives and vendors have been among the first to step up and contribute to the Wish Registry, and many Sears customers also are taking up the cause. The Wish Registry will remain open for all contributions through December 24. Sears is continuing to rally Americans to open their hearts, spread the word and help make a difference in the lives of our military servicemembers and their families.

To learn about their touching stories and make your own contribution to help bring the holidays home for our heroes, go to Sears.com or visit your local Sears. Consumers can also write a note to the families and wish them happy holidays.

"The Heroes at Home Wish Registry is a testament to the 'can-do' spirit of this nation to come together and embrace our service personnel as true heroes and friends," said Don Hamblen, Sears' chief marketing officer. "But there are still a lot of wishes out there. A large part of the giving to date has come in $1 and $2 donations, all of which make a difference."

The outpouring of support from customers and the response of U.S. Service members around the world has been heartwarming. "A small message cannot show the gratitude all Americans should give for the enormous sacrifices you've made for all of us," wrote a woman from Charlottesville, VA. "You and your family members overseas are the true heroes of this generation."

One soldier responded, "I serve in the military and would like to thank everyone who is contributing to this program. I know for a fact that servicemembers appreciate all the support we receive from our fellow Americans."
