Shoppers Look To Sears and Kmart as They Usher in Holiday Shopping Season

WHO: With lines starting as early as 1:30 a.m. on Nov. 28, and getting up to 400 deep in some markets, shoppers were out and about taking advantage of the great deals at Kmart and Sears, on what's traditionally one of the busiest shopping days of the year -- Black Friday.

"Both Sears and Kmart saw about the same lines as last year's Black Friday and are continuing to see a steady flow of customers throughout the day," said a company spokesman. "Following the initial doorbuster rush for home electronics and toys, customers spent more time in-store this year shopping for additional items, such as apparel and jewelry."

"Overall, shoppers were in good spirits and excited to shop this year. Managers passed out coffee to patient customers waiting for doors to open, and once inside customers took their time looking for great deals," continued the company spokesman. "And, at Sears many customers made donations to our Heroes at Home Wish Registry in effort to help give back to our U.S. service men and women over the holidays."
